Crystal Clique comes from the experience of performing the ungraceful dive of the ‘bomby’ in numerous swimming pools over the last two years in suburban Perth. Each cut out shape marks a time and location and when grouped together form an interconnected archive of autobiographical incidents. The work forms part of a greater question of recording ordinary affects of being and doing in the world and in this case considers how sensory knowledge can be distilled by the language of minimalist form. Physicality, colour, edge, surface and balance avail themselves to a unified moment in time and space and hope to aesthetize the memory, emotion and sensation of disrupting ordinary dreams in the suburbs of Perth.
